You’ve likely heard about manifestation, the power of positive thinking, or the laws of attraction. Manifesting is a bit of a buzzword and you’ll find a variety of explanations about how to manifest your desires. But what exactly is it, and how can we put it into action?!
What is manifestation?
Manifesting is the practice of visualising what you want with the purpose of making it real. There’s a variety of conflicting information about manifestation that can range from The Secret’s law of attraction, willing things into existence through the power of positive thought, journaling and vision boards, to Neural Manifestation.
These days manifestors tend to underline that although manifesting is about making your dreams a reality, you also need to take proactive steps to go about making it happen. It is having a clear idea of what you want to feel and experience, and making it a reality through thought, belief, action, and emotion – which is what makes it a little different to general goal setting.
Essentially whatever energy you put out into the world, is what you will receive back. So if you’re looking at the world from a glass half empty, you’ll likely only focus on negativity in your life. Whereas if you’re raising your vibration, you’ll more likely have positive experiences.
You also have to ensure that you’ve unblocked any negative limiting beliefs surrounding your manifestation in order for it to make an appearance in your life.
Manifestation techniques
- Get clear on what it is that you want to manifest. Create a detailed image of what you want to obtain. If it’s a romantic relationship then go into great detail about how you want this relationship to be and the person you’d like to be in a relationship with. If it’s a house then describe how each room in the house feels. If it’s a new job then get clear on how you feel, the environment, and how you’re spending your days.
- Put it in writing. Take your clear image and write it down in all its details. Consider writing a scenario of your best possible self in 5,10, 20 years time to get a full picture of what you’re hoping to manifest and how you’re feeling now that you’re living the life you want.
- Start taking action. Now that you have a clear idea of what you want, figure out some steps you might need to take to open up opportunities to make it happen. Keep your detailed image fresh by reading your notes often, and take action with the feeling that you already possess what you’re looking for.
- Be grateful. Tune into gratitude. Feel grateful for what you already have and for what’s coming. Consider creating a gratitude journal and writing down things that you’re grateful for from the day.
- Let go of limiting beliefs. Let go of fear and negative self-talk. Try to unblock any limiting beliefs that you might have that are getting in the way of your manifestations – you can free write and journal about this to see what comes up. Take your limiting beliefs and try to turn them around into positive affirmations.
- Follow your joy. We manifest best from a place of joy. Make time to do things that make you feel light and happy. Spend time doing something kind for others, take a yoga class, spend some time in nature, whatever makes you tick. If you’re looking for love, consider setting an intention to be more loving.
- Surrender. Trust the process and be willing to be guided. Trust that your actions are leading you in the right direction.
Key takeaways
Manifestation isn’t just dreaming your wishes into reality, it’s also about recognising where you’re feeling stuck, along with taking action to create opportunities. There’s much more to it than creating a vision board and reciting positive affirmations, although those can help you to get clear on what you want and get you feeling confident.
Manifestation, like goal setting, can help you to focus on your goals and find steps to making those goals a reality. In terms of health and wellbeing, it can help you to tune into how you want to look and feel and get you into the mindset to help you get you there.
