How Health Coaches Help Clients Lose Weight Faster

The biggest mistake I see most people make when they decide to make changes to their health habits is to pick out which fad diet seems most effective, sign up for a gym membership, and hustle, hustle, hustle. Doesn’t matter whether the foods they’re eating are actually helping them feel stronger or full. They may even hate the workouts they are doing, but they’re stuck in the mindset that those are the breaks. Workout out isn’t meant to be fun, so just do what you have to and eventually, you’ll get there.

They couldn’t be more wrong.

Of course, if you focus solely on caloric deficits and spend hours lifting weights or strength training, your body will change. The question is, at what cost?

What is a Health Coach?

Have you ever wished, in the midst of all your health and dieting confusion, that you could just call a friend and have them guide you step-by-step in what you should do first? Or how about just having someone to share some of your challenges with without fear of being reprimanded or shamed. Maybe you’re not even sure what your end goal looks like and it’d be nice to have someone help you put all of your ideas together and map out a plan.

In a nutshell, Health Coaches are wellness practitioners with an understanding of nutrition and habit change, often with complementary training, depending on their focus. These might be practices like Reiki, Personal Training, Nutrition Counselling, and others. If your Health Coach carries the designation RHC or RHNC, this simply means that they are members of a governing body which registers its Coaches to provide certain insurance coverages as well as ensure they are up to date on best practices and industry knowledge.

What do I get from Coaching Sessions?

The biggest benefit of working with a Health Coach is, not just accountability, but the way in which it happens. One thing you get from a Coach that you cannot get from a habit or tracker app is the opportunity to discuss and work through the daily challenges and patterns that sometimes get in the way of being able to follow through. By having someone to help you overcome both external and internal blocks, your ultimate goal becomes easier to attain, and that is exactly what a Health Coach is trained to do.

With this key component in place, the bonus perks come in the form of curated guidance towards your goal, help you plan how you can fit the necessary actions and processes into your current routine, and helping you break everything down into manageable steps. How could you say no to that?

What’s most important to me when it comes to helping my clients reach their goals is ensuring that they feel supported and heard and that they are able to maintain their progress, whether we continue together or not.
